The Nigerian Police force is one of the most hardworking paramilitary agency in Nigeria. They work hand in hand with other Paramilitary organizations in Nigeria even sometimes work with the Nigerian Armed forces.
So the question now is, How much is the Nigerian Police Salary and what are the ranks they obtain while they are in service.
Unlike Nigerian Army ranks which has two cadre the officers cadre (commission officer) and other rank cadre (non commission officers) , the Nigerian Police can start as other rank and still grow up to the officers cadre.
Nigerian Police Ranks
Those who joined the Nigerian Police with SSCE certificate are given the rank of Constable as their starting rank while those that joined using NCE or National Diploma are given the rank of Corporal as their starting rank. Graduates who joined the Nigerian Police with BSC or HND are given the rank of ASP as their starting rank.

The Nigerian Police Ranks And Salary 2024 is one of the things many Nigerians are eager to know or read about. The Nigerian Police Salary is divided according to the rank each person has.
If you have lower rank, Note that your salary is going to be lower,
For those who have Higher rank, Note that your salary is going to be higher Also.
Sometimes it’s also determined by number of years you have put in the Nigerian Police Force.
The longer you have been in the service, the more you have increment in your salary. You won’t expect a police constable who has been on Service for 2 years to be paid the same amount with the one that just joined the Police Force.
Nigerian Police Salary
Police officers that joined the Nigerian Police with SSCE certificate are paid about ₦43,339 per month. Police officers who are NCE and National Diploma holders receives about ₦50,318 per month as their starting salary. Those with HND and BSC in the Nigerian Police Force are paid about ₦156,318.34 as their starting salary.
The Nigerian Police Officers tend to have higher ranks and Salary than the police recruits because they are the ones that Joined the Nigerian Police through the Nigerian Police Academy and pass out as Officers or the joined the Nigerian Police force as graduate. However recently Mr there are still some rumours making round the internet about the President increasing the salary of the Nigerian police force due to some certain reasons. Nigerian Police Allowance
Apart from the basic salary that is being paid to the Nigerian Police officers, there are other few allowances which they are also entitled to. Below is the list of the Nigerian Police Allowances
- Risk Allowance – N5,000 – N50,000 per month
- Rent Allowance – N15,000 – N45,000
- Transport Allowance – N10,000 – N50,000
- Uniform Allowance – N4,000 to N30,000 per annum.
Please note that the allowances mentioned above are yet to be confirmed by our team but it is said that the Nigerian police officers receive the allowances while some say that they are not being paid most of the allowances mentioned above.
Nigerian Police Training Allowance
Apart from the allowances we mentioned above, there is another allowance that is paid to the Nigerian police officers who are on training. It is called Nigeria Police training allowance.
The Nigeria Police training allowance for trainees who joined the police using SSCE certificate is between N10,500 and N13,500. The NCE and National Diploma certificate holders in the Nigerian police on training are paid training allowance of between N12,000 – N17,000. While the training allowance for graduates with HND or BSC certificate in the Nigerian Police is between N18,000 and N25,000.
Please note that the Nigerian police training allowance is only meant for those who are actively on training and will be terminated once they have graduated and become a full member of the Nigerian Police force.
