Even those that are among the Fire Service Shortlisted Candidates are asking the same question, In this post we will be discussing about the Fire Service Salary, their ranks and their allowances.
Before we start taking about the fire service ranks, salary and allowances, let’s first understand how this Agency is structured and how it comes to be.
The Federal fire service is a part of the Paramilitary organizations in Nigeria which is in charge of fire fighting. Sometimes, the fire service is also referred to as fire fighters. This organization is under the Ministry of interior just like the immigration service.
Since the federal fire service is also part of the Nigerian Paramilitary organizations, their ranks is also structured the way the other agencies are structured but might not be the same completely. And in terms of salary, we all know the risks that is involved in fighting fire so their salary may be a bit higher than other Paramilitary agencies in Nigeria.
Please note that the federal fire service is not the highest paid Paramilitary organization in Nigeria as their are other agencies that are paid higher than the federal fire service.
Now before we start taking about the salary of the FFS, let’s first look at their ranks.
There is a way the ranks of federal fire service is classified. Basically, The fire service ranks is classified based on the qualification of the officer, Fire Service officers who joined the fire service with SSCE certificate are given the rank of Fire Marshall Assistant III. while the fire service Officers who joined the service with National diploma or NCE are given the rank of Senior Fire Marshall Assistant. The graduates in the fire service are given the rank of Marshall Inspectors III. Below is the complete ranks in the federal fire service.

Federal Fire Service Salary
The same the ranks of the fire service Officers is classified, that’s the same way the salary is. The higher your qualification and years of service, that’s the same way your salary will be higher.
For example, The SSCE certificate holders in the fire service (Level 03 – Level 04) are paid about N70,500 monthly. The Fire service Officers with National Diploma or NCE certificate (Level 06 – Level 07) are paid about N120,000. The graduates in the fire service that possess HND or BSC (Level 08 and Above) are paid about N230,000 monthly as their starting salary.
Below is the complete salary of FFS.
- Chief Inspectors are paid N1,405,000.
- Deputy Chief Inspectors are paid N1,225,000.
- Assistant Chief Inspectors are paid N1,152,000.
- Principal marshal Inspectors are paid N943,000.
- Senior Marshal Inspectors are paid N758,000.
- Marshal Inspectors I are paid N350,000.
- Marshal Inspectors II are paid N280,000.
- Marshal Inspectors III are paid N230,000.
- Chief Fire Marshal Assistants are paid N200,000.
- Deputy Fire Marshal Assistants are paid N180,000.
- Senior Fire Marshal Assistants are paid N120,000.
- Fire Marshal Assistants I are paid N100,000.
- Fire Marshal Assistants II are paid N85,000.
- Fire Marshal Assistants III are paid N70,500.
Fire Service Training Allowance
Fire Service training allowance is the little sum of money paid to fire service trainees who are training to become the FFS officers. The training allowance is also paid according to qualification.
The fire service training allowance paid to their recruits who are under training ranges from N15,000 – N50,000 monthly. As we said earlier, the training allowance depends on your qualification. The SSCE certificate holders receive the small amount of training allowance while the BSC and HND certificate holders receive the highest. Please note that this Allowance is only meant for those under training and will stop immediately they finish their basic training.
