How To Join The Nigerian Army With BSC And HND

Many graduates who has been looking for a way to join the Nigerian Army has been asking about how to achieve their dreams as joining the Army with BSC or HND.
Today we are happy to discus in details on how to join the Nigerian Army with BSC or HND certificate If you finished from university or polytechnic and  wish to join the Nigerian Army with BSC or HND, it simple means you are a graduate and will like to join the Nigerian Army as a graduate.

The Nigerian Army has a training program which they designed for BSC and HND Holders which is Called the DSSC or SSC Program.
I will be explaining them in details so please make sure you read till the end.
in this article  I will explain what the both means and the difference between them and how you can be able to apply for any one you wish.

The Nigerian Army DSSC simply means Direct Short Service Commission.
This Commission is meant for graduates both BSC and HND holders who already have a career in the civil life and will also want to continue that profession in the Military.
Example of those professions are Accountant, Doctors, Nurses, Engineers Lawyers,  and many others.

While The Nigerian Army SSC which means Short Service Combatant Commission is only meant for those who want to be Combatant in the army, They are not professional in any Field, it simply means that they will be trained as Combatant to lead troops in the war front.
They are almost the same thing with the regular cadets who spends 5 years in the Nigerian Defence Academy before they graduate with the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army.

Note, it’s left for you to know which one you are applying for. If you have a career with your BSC and wish to continue in the military, you are advised to join the DSSC, if you want to be Combatant you are also advised to join the SSC.
Now another Question is How do you apply for the Nigerian Army with your BSC or HND.

Before you can be able to join the Nigerian Army with BSC or SSC, you need to meet the following requirements.

  1. Applicants must be Nigerian citizen as it is defined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
  2. Applicants either male or female must be between the ages of 22 and 35 years old.
  3. All Applicants must be mentally, medically, and physically fit. This must be confirmed by the Nigerian Army according to Nigerian Army Standards.
  4. All the Applicants must be recommended and attested to his/her good character by at least 2  referees who is either a Local Government Chairman/Secretary or an officer of the Armed Forces not below the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel and equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above who must hail from the applicant’s state of origin. Passport photographs of referees must be affixed to the letter of attestation.
  5. All applicants must not have been convicted by a court of law. If you are Military personnel, you must not have any disciplinary case and must be confirmed so by the Commanding Officer/Commander
  6. All the Applied Candidates must submit a Letter of Attestation from their former institutions.
  7. Your height must Measure at least 1.68m (for males) and 1.65m (for females)..
  8. Applicants must possess at least a first degree with not less than Second Class Lower Division or HND of not less than Lower Credit in the arts, sciences, or humanities from an accredited university or polytechnic. Courses of study must also be accredited at the time of the study.
  9. All the Applicants must possess a valid birth certificate which must be signed by the National Population Commission, Hospital, or Local Government Council, or a valid age declaration from the court of law.
  10. Applicants must have a valid certificate of state of origin.
  11. Applicants (other than serving members of the Armed Forces) must have their NYSC certificate or a valid certificate of exemption.
  12. Applicants must present valid contact addresses and phone numbers of parents/guardians and Next of Kin.
  13. All applicants must not have any body inscriptions or tattoos on their bodies.
  14. Candidates must provide all the original copies of educational certificates from primary to secondary school.
  15. All the Service personnel must present a valid military ID card and letter of recommendation from their Commanding Officers/Commanders. They must also present valid letter(s) of official sponsorship in tertiary academic institutions. Additionally, they must have served for a minimum period of 5 years in the Armed Forces of Nigeria. All service personnel applicants are under obligation to declare their service status on the application as required by Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service for the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Failing to do so constitutes an offense in addition to disqualification at any stage.
  16. Candidates who wish to join the Nigerian Army as a Graduate must not be a member of any cult/secret society/fraternity.
